• The SERAPIS, built in England, made its maiden voyage in mid-1779 during the crisis that the United States called the American Revolution.
This war riots in many oceans around the globe. The first mission was to escort SERAPIS merchant fleet under the flag of the Baltic English. He was captured by John Paul Jones during the famous battle with the Bonhomme Richard and the victory gave the Americans a new impetus during the dark days of the revolution. • The ship ended in the French fleet was in the hands of the famous pirate William Kid and sank off the coast of Ile Sainte Marie in Madagascar in 1781. The wreckage was located officially in 1999 by Dick Swets. |
