• Despite the formal abolition of slavery by the Treaty of Vienna of 1815, trafficking of Negroes continued until the mid-nineteenth century in the French colonies. The slave had to design boats that can evade the surveillance of buildings.

• "l'Ouragan" was one of these ships, with its fine line and bordered on its hull clins, knew how to combine speed and maneuverability and became a faster transport of slaves from the early nineteenth century.
