Top range of Louis XVI fleet, the Hermione is being built at Rochefort where it has been originaly launched in MAY 1779, 25.5 inch long and 4.5 inch large.
The young Gilbert du Mortier, Marquis de la Fayette, turned 21 years old when he first stepped on board on March 21st 1780, with 326 marine troups and soldiers with 4000 uniforms destinated to the USA Army.
38 days later, the Hermione reach Boston where he met General Georges Washington to give a full political and military, approval for the Independance. During 18 months, the Hermione participated to the conflict with England, equiped with 26 "12 pounds" guns and 6 "6 pounds" guns.
The Hermione did a last trip during the USA commemoration and flew back to Rochefort.
