The name of Sir Thomas Lipton is intimately linked to the history of the America's Cup. With the ambition to win the famous cup, the wealthy owner entrusts the architect Charles E. Nicholson design class J "Shamrock" to be the challenger of the famous "Enterprise" in 1930.
Only class I built from wood, which still exists, "Shamrock" always sailing in the waters of the bay from Newport.
